Omolabake written by Komolafe John
The first four letters that brought you my way was fate.
Also, remember the four letters that brought you into existence was love.
Omolabake, this very four letters brought you into my life the same day my life aid was made.
Remember the first time I met you that I couldn't maintain a proper gaze. Even though I wonder if it was _shuku_ or _Adimole_ you had on, you still managed to find a way to sweep me off my feet.
And of course, I'm floored. Yes, I am.
The miracle in your steps, the way you dance like you've got diamonds meeting at your waist.
You are a symbol of black strength and much more than what they taught us in the history books of black.
The true gift the ancestors blessed us with, the hope, the dream for all you carry and rise.
Your skin absorbs the sun right from the creation of men, _ọmọ Àdùnní_
A look at you unveils the mystery behind God's first kind and the greatest of all his creation as the black woman you are _Omolabake_ .
I adore the sound from your feets as the _shekere_ matches the _bàtà_ dance of your town.
The earth adores your royal steps, a worthy princess from _Kabiyesi_ .
Come, follow me to my home and let me show you how men from our town fill water inside the jar.
While you teach my pot to make a good soup so the _ìbejì_ you bless me with won't regret the choice they made for a parent.
Make my world and be my peace always.
Make my daughters learn the skills and perfect touches of the _egusi_ you make so they showcase the beauty of our culture.
Love me only _olólùfẹ́_ and build my home.
So when they see my sons, they know they are the true sons of their father _ọmọ akin_ .
I'll walk your feet down to the water shore and pay respect to _Yeye_ because love found us in the streets of _oshogbo_.
Then let's take a tour round the globe also but let's not forget the great _Aláàfin's_ Palace.
The great places in your town as you accompany me to see the _ooni_ of _ife_ and see the beautiful _Odùduwà_ staff,
Not forgetting the root; oshogbo the true origin of our love story so they can tell the beautiful tales of the love even after we are gone.
_Omolabake_ Till the old age comes, when your skin can no longer feel my beautiful touch and my eye gets too weak to look at your beautiful wrinkled face,
While we await the call of destiny to see the heaven's beauty, never let go!
Where our love will never see the end line of time anymore
